Situated on 2400 sq metres of land, Villa Amala is surrounded by padi fields on the edge of a valley overlooking the river Wos.

The charm of the padi fields of Keliki is mesmerising; and the soft murmur of the river Wos in the valley below calming. To top all this, the enchanting sunsets across the horizon of Ubud are unforgettable.

With five ensuite guestrooms, it can accommodate up to 10 people comfortably. Made up of two houses connected by a walkway, the main house overlooks the 20m pool and padi fields, while the valley house sits on the edge of a ridge which over looks the lush valley of the river Wos.

Villa Amala - Location

Amala is situated on the edge of a padi field, overlooking the river Wos. It sits between the villages of Sebali and Keliki , in the province of Tegallalang, Ubud. It is an hour's ride from Bali's Ngurah Rai airport, and only a 15 minute car ride from the famed centre of art and culture's Ubud.

Staying in Ubud is a unique experience. Ubud offers a stay punctuated with the simple pleasures of watching her children practice their dancing or gamelan playing at the temple; craftsman patiently honing their talents; farmers chasing their herd of ducks down the streets. A stay in Ubud offers the delight of appreciating all that surrounds you in daily life in Bali.

Villa Amala - Accomodation

The layout of Amala allows two families with children to holiday very comfortably and with enough living areas to afford adequate privacy. Alternatively it is also a suitable get-away for 4-5 couples to "chill out" in the peaceful and harmonizing atmosphere of Sebali.

The main house contains a open dining area and large daybed overlooking the 20m pool and padi fields. It also houses the library, kitchen, a powder room and on the second level the master bedroom. The Master bedroom has a spacious veranda with two daybeds at each end. It is one of two rooms in the estate that has an exposed alang alang roof. The bathroom contains a bathtub cum shower and also an outdoor shower on the terrace.

The valley house has a open living area on the top floor with wide open verandas for dining al fresco. It also boasts a immense alang alang roof. Below this are two guest rooms sharing a veranda that overlook the valley. Both rooms are ensuite with partial outdoor showers and baths.

On the ground level of the valley house there is a second master bedroom with a indoor bath and shower overlooking the valley as well as a outdoor shower in its own private garden.

Next to this is the TV room with a projector and screen to watch movies or catch the latest news on satellite TV. Alternatively this room is easily converted into another guest room with ensuite bathroom. A veranda fronts these two rooms and allows guests to walk out to the valley garden or have breakfast with the morning sun rising over the valley. A bale sits at the edge of the garden overlooking the valley and rice terraces.

Villa Amala - Dining

Our cook will be able to prepare both local and western cuisine. Villa guests are free to discuss with the cook the menu for each meal who will then do the marketing and guests need only pay the cost of the food bought.

Within a 15 min car ride of Amala, you will have the choice of a varied selection of restaurants, Terrazzo, Batan Waru, Bebek Bengil, Ary's Warung, and Mosaic to name but a few.

Villa Amala - Activities

Mountain bikes are available for exploring the unspoilt trails around Ubud. Villa staff will provide maps and guides to places of interest in the area.

Trekking can be arranged with experienced guides.

White water rafting on the Ayung river is a 15 minute car ride away and arrangements can be made by the Villa manager.

The renowned Handara Golf course is approximately 1Ω hours away by car and again our Villa manager will be most happy to arrange tee-off of times.

The Elephant Park is a short car ride down the road from Amala where guests can enjoy exciting elephant rides around the Ubud countryside.

Our villa manager is most happy to arrange for sightseeing tours to the rest of Bali, or shopping excursions to Ubud market and the many small shops along the Monkey Forest Road. There are also a number of notable Art galleries to view.

Villa Amala - Design

Amala's design was conceived by Robin Bimantoro of Triloka Architects and Lucia Boey of Lucia Boey Design Studio. In close consultation with the owners, they came up with a concept that imbibed the basic traditions of Balinese architecture with the simple lines of modern design. Together with the well acknowledged experience of Paul Tendeanís construction company, Amala came about.

Peak season (min. stay 7 nights) : August 1 - 31 and December 20 - January 8.
